I’m Douglas Mackenzie, a Scottish wedding photographer based in Edinburgh.

I spent four years in Canada and four years in China, photographing people, stories, and everyday life. That time shaped my approach, teaching me to recognise a moment as it happens, and how light can quietly change the way it feels.

For me, photography is about being present with what’s in front of you. Not just how something looks, but how it feels to be there. A photograph offers a way to return to that, long after the moment has passed.

I give guidance when needed, but step back to let things unfold naturally. The people, the atmosphere, everything as it comes.
